Perfect for a party treat on a hot summers day, or any day really! Kids LOVE icypoles! And parents love healthy!! Get your kids in the kitchen and make these delicious and healthy fruit icypoles.
1. Juice or blend the strawberries, kiwi fruit and oranges in separate batches. You can also use watermelon, mangoes, pineapples, berries or any fruit that juices or blends well! Keep them separated in individual, clean containers.
2. Start with whatever fruit you like, and fill you icypole mould 1/3 with the juice. Place in the freezer until fully frozen. Don't rush this step, allow each layer to freeze before pouring the next layer in, otherwise you could end up with a slushy, murky (but still tasty) mess!
3. When the first layer is frozen, pour in your 2nd juice. For those who are using sticks, cover the mould in foil and using a sharp knife, make a tiny incision in the middle where the icypole stick should go. Insert the stick - this helps the stick stand upright.
**Those that are using plastic sticks with the cover already incorporated into the mould, just place the cover and freeze for about 40 minutes, enough for the stick to be pulled out for the next layer but solid enough for it not to turn into a murky mess when the next payer is poured!**
Return to the freezer and allow to freeze.
4. Once that layer is frozen, remove from freezer and pour in your next layer. Return to freezer and allow to freeze. Repeat until you have filled the icypole mould with as many layers as you like. You can make thick layers or thin layers - it's totally up to you.
5. Time for you all to enjoy your delicious (and healthy) icypoles!

Yes, you read it first here! LiiArtsa is on Pinterest!!
I thought I'd help you all out and create some pin boards full of ideas to complement LiiArtsa's invitations! You will find Pin Boards with the LiiArtsa invitation heading with heaps of ideas on food, decorations and party games that I find while browsing the internet. They also will include ideas from my own parties as well!!
Don't forget to browse other invitation pinterest boards in LiiArtsa as you might get some inspiration from them too :)
I really hope you all appreciate the boards and the inspiration they may give you because after all, with the best invite from LiiArtsa, you have to follow it up with the best party EVER!!
I recently hosted a Minecraft party for my son and his friend who were both born on the same day - what fun I had preparing it all and the boys had a BLAST! I thought I'd show you all the decorations and how I created them - if you have the time, the effort is definitely worth the look of excitement on your child's face - and their friends!
The creeper cups were easy to make! Just buy some green disposable cups and some black electrical tape. Minecraft is a pixelated based game so all you need to do is think pixels...or squares! Two squares for eyes, one for the nose, two for the top of the mouth - under the nose (aligned to the centre of the nose) and two for the sides, placed vertical to the top of the mouth on each side. See - easy!!
The creeper army balloons were just as simple to make as the cups - buy some green balloons and follow the same concept as the cups above! Hang using fishing line :)
I had a fantastic idea to create names in the Minecraft theme - something both boys could keep as a memento of their Minecraft birthday. I purchased wooden letters from our local Spotlight craft store, and created different Minecraft textures - there are 6 textures, diamond, dirt, grass, cobblestone, wood, & iron all in A4 .jpg files. - if you would like a copy of these textures (with compliments of LiiArtsa) - please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject 'Minecraft textures' and I will email them to you.
I painted two sides of the wood black then printed the textures on photo paper and simply cut them out and glued them onto the unpainted side of the wood.
Make sure you trace the letters with the face-side-down facing onto the back of the paper, otherwise the letters will be back to front - I found this out the hard way ;) I used blue-tac to stick them onto the chair so no damage was done to the furniture.
The boys have put them to good use, they are displayed at the entrance to their bedrooms with pride!!
Ok...here is where I went crazy!! I saw a great idea on the net and decided yes, this looks easy as! Grab some white electrical tape and tape away...yes, easy....3 hours later I wasn't thinking it was such a great idea LOL. Anyway, make sure you allow enough time to do this - I had another 3 windows in addition to these to do - so.insanely.crazy. Would I do this again? Purely for the look of amazement on my boys face - YES! But I would allow a few days, instead of trying to get it done the night before!! 2 weeks later and they are still up - the kids don't want me to take them down!
Next, I decided that some Minecraft cubes/blocks were needed for decorations on the table. I bought some plain boxes from Spotlight and printed the textures on plain A4 paper, then simply covered each box. The party guests loved them and they are now being used by my son as lego containers :)
And here is the birthday cake! So simple :) Two layers of rainbow cake (green white and chocolate) with chocolate ganache used to stick them together, and don't forget the surprise in the middle ;) I used peppermint M&M's for the grass and plain Cadbury chocolate squares for the creeper face. The sides of the cake were to resemble dirt, so I used crushed up Flake stuck onto the ganache, ohhhh what a mess it made LOL The candles are meant to resemble minecraft torches. The boys LOVED it and it tasted divine!! First time I have had not one piece of birthday cake left!
And finally, LiiArtsa lovingly created a party favour bag sticker as a thank you for the guests to take home. Looks pretty awesome!
Hope you loved my little tutorial of different things to do for your child's minecraft birthday! Have fun creating & decorating!!!!! xx
